Exciting battles and a great atmosphere at the Serbentu kartodrome (EN version)

29.06.2025, Uldis Galdiņš

On Saturday, June 28, at the Serbentu karting track in Mande Šauļi, the ninth championship round of the Openkart 2025 season took place. Gathering a record number of participants from outside Latvia - 71, the round at the Serbentu karting track did not disappoint in any aspect. Exciting battles, a great atmosphere, a full participant park, and perfect weather conditions made another Openkart round a true celebration. A huge thank you to all participants and their supporters and families, as well as a huge thank you to the track staff, especially Aurelijus Skromovas, for an extremely accommodating, even proactive attitude and excellently prepared equipment.

In one of the most exciting and eventful Openkart finals, Dāvis Zalmans (Movers.lv) claimed his second victory of the season, Andrejs Laipnieks (Movers.lv) finished second from the pole position, and Aurelijus Skromovas (Pirmie, LT) secured third place with a photo finish over fellow countryman Orestas Burgaila (Dream Team, LT).

Another convincing victory for the Movers.lv team (Laipnieks, Zalmans, Kaspars Ritums), second place for Dream Team (Burgaila, Ričards Alekss Švaglis), and third place for the Šiauliai team Hungry2Drive (Laimonas Skrodenis, Laimonas Starkevičius, Jokūbas Kaminskas).

Victory in the Challenge Cup for Jokūbas, second place for Estonian driver Kristjan Salvet (IJR PRO 2, EE), and third for Starkevičius. Among the debutants, victory went to Henrijs Grūbe (Kartings.lv), Salvet was second, and the remarkably consistent Lithuanian junior Erman Keskin was third.

In the 95+ category, Raivis Liberts (Sēļu Zeme) achieved his second consecutive victory, with Zdislavas Giliunas (LT) in second place and Renārs Vilnis (ADR) in third. Among juniors, the victory went to Jokūbas, followed by Keskin in second and Ādams Šics (F-TRIO) in third. For the ladies, Meda Mickeliūnaite (LT) claimed victory, Karlīna Gladiševa (F-TRIO) came second, and Sofija Anna Gisiča (Crazy Racing Dame) secured third place.

In two of the three qualifying sessions, victory went to Laipnieks, while in the third, the best time was achieved by Salvet. The fastest lap time in the final was set by Burgaila. In the B final, victory went to Deividas Steponkus (LT), in the C final to Ādams, in the D final to Artūrs Dilis (Skill Issue), in the E final to Nils Kūlis (Rank 1337), and in the F final to Majus Gryte (LT).

These results are, of course, preliminary, as the battles were close in all the final races and in such battles, contacts are inevitable.
